If your Camino de Santiago organized either on foot or by bike ends in the city of Santiago de Compostela you can make day trips from Santiago de Compostela to the surrounding area. This way you have the option to enjoy an extra day in the area and explore Galicia in all its splendor. You will simply have to ask us for an additional night in Santiago in order to be able to take some of the most interesting tours that we propose below.
We begin the tour with a guided visit to a typical winery of the Rías Baixas to taste the flavorful Albariño wines of the region. They will explain how it is produced, and we will taste three varieties of it.
After the winery visit, it’s time for a boat ride and to taste the famous mussels of the area. You will learn all the secrets of mussel, oyster, and scallop production in the “bateas”. A buffet of mussels will be offered, accompanied by local wine, soft drinks, water, and a shot of cream liqueur.
We set foot on the solid ground of O Grove, where we will take a brief tour of the port and the beginning of the historic center. Later, you will enjoy 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time to eat and discover the renowned Galician cuisine. O Grove is full of sculptures, providing a striking visual contrast.
A Toxa Island is the most famous of the Galician Atlantic islands, originally used for grazing until the discovery of its thermal muds. You will visit the famous La Toja Bridge, dating back to the 19th century, connecting the O Grove peninsula with the island. It was a crucial construction, marking a turning point in the history of this island.
We head towards the Hermitage of A Lanzada, intrinsically related to the ritual of fertility and fecundity through the bathing of nine waves.
This picturesque Galician village is filled with tourists attracted by its winding and narrow streets. Just go with the flow.
Arrival in Santiago de Compostela and end of the excursion.
Lunch. A stop will be made in Fisterra with a great choice of restaurants.
